BODYWORK

The body never lies and it is your ally.

We all have the potential to live in our bodies fully and with ease. When you take the time to listen and respond to the intelligence of your body, you will create a rich and nourishing relationship that will serve you throughout your lifetime. My deepest joy as a bodyworker and teacher is to be a guide toward your body’s intelligence and to support the unfolding of this relationship.

When you consciously engage the intelligence of your body, it takes you to a place deep within. You become aware of the subtle movements, openings and changes in the body and how this affects you as a whole. You experience your potential for profound healing and learn that it is not outside of you. This knowledge alone brings you deep healing on many levels.

Testimonials

“I LOVED YOUR WORK! As I went through the rest of the day, I kept thinking about how long it’s been since I felt like ‘me’. It’s wonderful to be me again! I appreciate so very much the gift of your time and talent. Thank you!”
Maureen C.

“I was barely able to walk and not quite sure why. A previous knee injury was worsened by a fall few weeks earlier, but the other leg was not functioning and was painful. I was told that Craniosacral work might be good for me. I had a session with Francesca and what followed was a huge healing for me. I felt very comfortable with her immediately. She was able to go right to the source of the problem. Francesca guided me, comforted me and moved the energy in my body in such a way that I was able to get up and walk after the session with only a slight pain in my injured knee. It was amazing. I continued to work with her and experienced even more improvement.”
Rosemary R.

“I went to Francesca after having 2 molars removed and an injury to my forehead, all on the same side. She did Craniosacral work and I felt so much relief. She definitely knows what she's doing. I was a skeptic and now I am a believer!”
Laura S.

“If you just need a back rub or relaxing massage, go ahead and go see any old masseuse. However, if you have an injury or disability, or a nagging pain that won't quite resolve and are interested in REAL healing, you need to see Francesca. I have been seeing her for knee/back issues for a couple of months (referred by my PT), and the results have been great. She has an
in-depth understanding of the body as a whole, and the best way to heal that works for you. I feel like I'm in perfect hands because she focuses on treating for overall wellness.”

My Experience as a Bodyworker
I have been studying and practicing bodywork for 25 years.  I originally studied with Telema Hess at the Omega Bodywork Institute in Philadelphia, PA for 2 years, after which I passed the exams for National Certification in Massage Therapy.  I have also studied Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute and with Ellen Mossman, Visceral Manipulation with the Barral Institute, and the Feldenkrais Method at Feldenkrais Resources in Berkeley, CA.  In Germany, I studied Subtle Energy Work with Ursula Binner. I have also been teaching and practicing yoga for over 30 years.

Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation (VM) is an extremely effective technique of working gently and directly with the viscera, the soft internal organs of the body in the abdomen (belly), thorax (chest) and cranium (head).

Who can benefit from VM?
If you experience digestive problems, restrictions in your muscles and joints or post-surgery pain and scar tissue, VM can benefit you. The viscera, like our muscles and bones, need movement to be healthy. When our organs lose their normal motion due to infections, trauma, diet, emotional stress or other factors, they lose some of their ability to function well. This lack of motion can also cause structural problems, such as muscle tension and pain. VM helps to restore the motion of the organs, improving their function and often relieving tensions and discomfort in the body that at first may seem unrelated to the restriction of the organs.

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle method of working with the craniosacral system - the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Who can benefit from CST?
By releasing restrictions on this system using a light touch and working with the slower rhythms of fluids in the body, CST improves the function of the central nervous system and can have wide-ranging benefits to the whole body, including relief from headaches, jaw tension and stress due to physical and emotional trauma such as car accidents, dental work and surgeries.

Myofascial Therapy
Fascia is the stretchy, extremely strong connective tissue that encases muscles, organs and many other structures in the body. This tissue not only connects and creates structure, it acts as a matrix of communication throughout the entire body. Myofascial therapy stretches and unwinds this tissue in order to improve function by allowing for more slide and glide among the structures of the body.

Who can benefit from Myofascial Therapy?
All of us have some unnecessary tension in the layers of fascia in our bodies and can experience relief from chronic tension through myofascial therapy. Repetitive motion strain, injuries, chronic headaches and jaw pain are just a few of the issues that can be addressed by this work.
